About SAPEN
In June of 1986 a meeting at New Castle Youth Development Center brought together professionals from diverse areas of victim and
sexual offender treatment programs with the common goal of preventing sexual abuse. The result of this meeting was the formation of the
Sexual Abuse Prevention and Education Network, S.A.P.E.N.
S.A.P.E.N. is an organization of professionals whose work, at some level, brings
them in contact with adult and child victims of sexual assault, adult and juvenile sex offenders and/or the families who have experienced
and live with the impact of sexual abuse. The professionals who form the membership of S.A.P.E.N. come from across Pennsylvania and represent
a variety of private and public agencies and organizations, as well as private practice.
S.A.P.E.N. as part of its function sponsors an annual statewide training conference that provides participants with the most up to date
materials and methods, as well as access to the fields most prominent experts.
